Join New York Peace Institute for a Community Building Circle that will explore the impact of conflict on our lives and ability to express ourselves and views.

On May 1, 2024 New York Peace Institute will host the first in a series of Community Building Circles for the public that will explore conflict, the ways in which it can stymie critical conversation, and how to maintain relationships across divides.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS EVENT IS NOW AT CAPACITY. PLEASE EMAIL OPERATIONS@NYPEACE.ORG TO ADD YOUR NAME TO A WAITLIST. WE WILL CONTACT YOU IF ANY SPOTS OPEN UP. THANK YOU!

Conflict can make individuals feel that they are unable to express their views or opinions, for fear of being shut down or saying the wrong things. Conflict can often feel agonizing, isolating and insurmountable. Our Community Building Circles create safe spaces for participants to delve into how we got here and how to forge and maintain relationships across what might seem like insurmountable divides. Through discussion of personal experiences and past conflicts, we will together consider how we all can contribute to a more compassionate society, a society in which people feel equipped to engage in uncomfortable conversations without sacrificing their values and/or relationships.

NYPI will host three Circle events (one on May 1 and two in the fall) that will provide an opportunity for our community members to experience the process and power of the Circle. Our hope is that the Circles will also foster open communication, respect, and connection during a time when our bonds with family, friends, our communities and our society as a whole are being tested.

The first Circle will take place May 1, 2024, at Cardozo School of Law. There will be two additional Circle events in this series in the fall to further explore our Freedom to Speak and how to maintain relationships across polarizing divides.

You must register in advance to attend this event, which is open to the public.

Light refreshments will be served.

We Hope To See You There!
