Conflict, Caring and COVID-19: Views from Around the World will feature a diverse panel of international peacebuilders. They will explore how COVID-19 places further stress upon the systematic inequalities experienced by people in conflict, how this manifests differently around the world and the challenges it places on resolving conflict and building peace, and share the innovative responses of local actors to promote peace in pandemic times.

This event will be moderated by New York Peace Institute board member and UN Representative of Nonviolent Peaceforce and Peace Direct. Gay Rosenblum-Kumar. Panelists will include the following international peacebuilders.

  • Maria Victoria (Mavic) Cabrera Balleza, Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Global Network for Women Peacebuilders
  • Alma Abdul-Hadi Jadallah, Founder and Director of Kommon Denominator, part-time faculty at George Mason University (GMU) and Eastern Mennonite University (EMU)
  • Prabha Sankaranarayan, Chief Executive Officer, Mediators Beyond Borders
  • Mel Duncan, Founder and Director of Advocacy of Nonviolent Peaceforce
